HOW DOES THE SOLUTION ADDRESS
THE PROBLEM?

By working collaboratively with Research & Development institutes, universities, manufacturers, investors and customers, democratisation of solar PV solutions is made possible:

1.

Solar Technology companies, developers and manufacturers benefit from high orders. Also, through employment programs, manufacturers benefit from excellent and affordable talent from Medellín and Colombia.

2.

Banks and investors benefit from the return on investment, the generation of employment and growth in emerging markets.

3.

The 'Haves' benefit from obtaining a highly reliable, cheaper solar solution. In addition, they benefit from generating growth in the ‘Have-not’ communities.

4.

The  'Have-nots' benefit by having reliable and accessible electrification, able to contract other services such as connectivity, which will allow them to become educated with online courses, as well as having a better quality of life.

PHASE 1 - TARGETS

An average of 24,500 tCO2 avoided

YEAR 1

Impact

975 houses (over 6,825 panels) and 15 jobs created.

YEAR 2

Impact

1,268 houses (over 8,870 panels) and 25 new jobs created.

YEAR 3

Impact

3,890 houses (over 27,200 panels) and 55 new jobs created.

PHASE 2 - TARGETS

An average of 146,700 tCO2 avoided

Over 20,000 houses, a range of 82,000 to 163,000 panels.

The above means approximately 150 new jobs created.

The Future Is 50/50
Addressing sustainability:

We work with local entities to drive sustainable economic growth and productive employment,

thus supporting the

SDG "Decent Work and Economic Growth".

In addition, with so much yet to achieve in the PV industry and certainly in Colombia, we contribute actively in empowering young people to explore other innovative ways to develop solar panels locally.

COMMON FINDINGS WHEN ENGAGING OUR CUSTOMERS

1) Electricity bills of at least three families from strata 1 & 2 were very much comparable to strata 5 & 6.

2) Households across the board expressed being unhappy about the service and electricity prices of the main utility company in Medellín.

3) Inequality across the city demarks the great differences in opportunities across strata 1 & 2 vs. 5 & 6.

4) The current electricity system is unreliable during heavy rain across all strata.
